Heart of Gold Nails

by - August 23, 2015

Gel nails done by yours truly ;)

This design is perfect for everyone! Whether your nails are long or short, whether you're 5 or 80 years old it's suitable for all, and of course the colour of the heart can be changed to your preferences, you can even add a background colour to add some fun to the design.
My nails here are almond shaped so the heart design is a little more obvious, on rounded/square/oval nails the heart will look more like a scalloped french tip, which is also super cute.

To do the heart shape:
  1. Choose a colour of your choice
  2. Wipe off any excess polish from both sides of the brushBy wiping the excess polish off the brush to draw the heart, you are giving yourself a blueprint of where the heart should go to see if it's placement is right.
  3. Roughly mid way down one side of the nail, press the brush down and pull the brush towards the tip of the nail's centre at a slight curve
  4. Repeat on the opposite side.
  5. Put 1-2 more thin coats of polish on the heart to build up it's opacity and round off the edges to make it look more like a heart than a 'V' shape.
  6. To clean up and make rounding off the edges of the heart easier, use a square brush dipped in nail polish remover to slowly and carefully neaten the lines/curves.
  7. Once finished, add a topcoat and you're done!
It's a very simple but effective design, and really easy to achieve. If you re-create this design tag me on instagram @realitykillsinnocence I'd love to see your version.

    1. I'm glad you like them! The gel nails took a good few hours to do, but that's only because I do them myself and I'm slow >_< The gold tips took about 15 minutes or so, it's a really simple but elegant design!
